Pantone has released its Fashion Color Report for Fall 2016. We always enjoy reviewing and studying these tones and watching how they gradually make their way into the home, too.
As reported by Home Accents Today: Illustrating “A Unity of Strength, Confidence and Complexity,” the season’s 10-color palette is inspired by “the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism,” led by the blue family, Pantone said.
The Fall 2016 colors are:
- Riverside
- Airy Blue
- Sharkskin
- Aurora Red
- Warm Taupe
- Dusty Cedar
- Lush Meadow
- Spicy Mustard
- Potter’s Clay
- Bodacious
“Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections,” Pantone explained. “Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades.”
The different shades each have significance, noted Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“Blue skies represent constancy, as they are always above us,” she said. “Grays give a feeling of stability. Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.”
